Significance of Salah In Islam
Importance of Salah in Islam
Importance of Salah In Islam, Salah is the second pillar of Islam right after Shahadah, or the declaration of faith in Almighty Allah (SWT) and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as his messenger. Muslims are obligated to offer Salah five times a day regardless of any excuses to express submission to our Lord. The Quran highlights the importance and benefits of performing Salah.
Reward in the Afterlife
Every Muslim after death shall be held answerable for every deed he committed in his or her lifetime. The reward for offering Salah, however, is the most special of them all. The Quran states about the Importance of Salah in Islam,
“Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds and establish prayer and give zakah will have their reward with their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.” (2:277)
Attain Taqwa
Every Muslim’s primary purpose in this life is to become pious and righteous. Salah invokes piety and righteousness in a Muslim’s heart as he or she surpasses every obstacle and restriction set by our religion to stay on the right path. The Quran speaks of the contribution of Salah in achieving Taqwa by stating,
“This is the Book in which there is no doubt, a guidance for those who have Taqwa: who believe in the unseen, and who establish Salah, and spend out of what we have provided for them.” (2:2-3)
Establish a Connection with the Lord
Prayer is the best way to establish a connection with the Almighty. Those who realize that Allah is the only one who can help us through anything realize the importance of maintaining a strong spiritual connection with the Supreme Ruler. Allah says in the Quran about Importance of Salah in Islam,
And when you have completed the prayer, remember Allah standing, sitting, or [lying] on your sides. But when you become secure, re-establish [regular] prayer; Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times. (4:103)
Protection from Satan and Prevention from Profanity
Allah (SWT) says about salah and its significance in islam,
Satan only wants to cause between you animosity and hatred through intoxicants and gambling and to avert you from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer. So will you not desist? (5:91)
Satan works to constantly invoke Muslims down a path of darkness and oblivion. Offering Salah will protect a Muslim from Satan’s shackles and therefore help him or her fight all the evils that surround us.
Salah purifies the soul. More importantly, it is an obligation that must be fulfilled by every Muslim every day without fail.
