Importance Of Ihram In Hajj
Hajj is appreciated worldwide, as Muslims of different countries perform it with discipline while wearing the same dress. it is a prerequisite of hajj. The literal meaning of ihram is prevention.
It is basically a dress worn by Hajjis at the time of performing Hajj. It is different for both men and woman which is specified by Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Why Ihram Is So Important In Hajj?
The pilgrim is conditioned to enter the state of ihram in order to perform Hajj. Its purpose is to avoid attracting attention. it creates a sense of unity and brotherhood.
As it is a dress code of pilgrims its significance, purpose, and benefits cannot be ignored. It induces a sense of equality irrespective of age, caste, creed, nationality, and status among the pilgrims.
These two sheets of ihram are the reminder for all pilgrims that each Muslim is equal in the eyes of our creator. We would be treated in the same way by Allah swt on the Day of Judgment and we would be dealt on the basis of our deeds. The condition for pilgrims is that he is supposed to enter ihram before reaching Meqaat.
Rules Of Ihram
The concept of ihram for men is that it comprises two white sheets that cover the body while some parts of the body are still left uncovered. Muslim women are supposed to cover the whole body except for their face and hands.
The next step is of Niyyat. After you have made the intention, the pilgrim should pray 2 Rakat Salah and enter in a state of ihram.
Prohibitions During Ihram
When a man enters a state of ihram, he cannot wear stitched clothes. Covering their head is not allowed. After sacrificing an animal, the head could be shaved not before that. Socks and shoes cannot be worn. Hunting animals and sexual intercourse are also prohibited in the state of ihram.
Clipping of nails is also forbidden. The rules for women are that they can wear unstitched clothes but cannot cover their faces while performing Hajj. If a scent has been used on ihram, it should be replaced from the new one. Otherwise, Umrah will be invalid.
