Significance of Hajj in Islam according to Islamic Traditions

Hajj is the Fifth Plar of Islam Every true believer sees the dream of visiting the holy house of Allah swt. His tongue utters the wish of going to the journey of life and circumambulating around Kaabah. This connection of believer’s heart and Makkah is eternal and is thumbing in his vein. This is because Hajj means heading to an honorable place constantly and that is why Muslims yearn to visit again even after many visits to Haram In Islamic terms, Hajj implies the sets of worship done during the month of Dhul-Hijjah and accomplishing certain religious obligations properly in Muzdalifah, Mina Arafat, and Haram. This sacred form of worship became obligatory upon Muslims after nine years of Hijrah (Prophet Muhammad’s PBUH immigration to Madina from Makkah).

Importance of Hajj in Quran

How beautifully Quran declares the journey of Prophet Abraham in which he constructed Holy Kaabah with his beloved son Ismail:

In Surah Al Imran Verse 96-97, Allah SWT reveals;

“Indeed, the first House established for mankind is that at Mecca, abounded with blessings and a guidance for the all worlds.

There are clear signs, the place where Abraham stood and whoever enters it, is safe. And for the Allah’s sake, the people has to perform pilgrimage to this House, for whoever is able to find the way. Although, whoever disbelieves, then indeed, Allah is independent from the worldly needs.”

These verses of Holy Quran truly depict the importance of Hajj in Islam according to Islamic traditions and its renouncement as an obligation. How well Allah Almighty declares the one who renounces Hajj as infidels. May Allah SWT guide us all!

Days of Dhulhijjah

The month of Dhulhijjah is very dear to the Almighty Allah. He swt does not pardon his servants in any other month as much as he does during the days of Hajj. Mother of believer Aisha RA stated: Can you imagine the sanctity of the days of Hajj from the above-mentioned saying of our beloved Prophet Muhammad PBUH? Allah SWT loves his servant and loves to pardons especially in Dhulhijjah.

Arafat Day

The most important day is Arafat day when waqoof is performed. Waqoof being the vital pillar of Hajj is carried out during the last part of the day which is from afternoon until sunset. If a Muslims misses waqoof his Hajj is invalid. Billions and millions of Muslims worship, pray and supplicate to Allah swt on this day and ask for forgiveness.  In response, Allah swt showers his mercy and bestows pardons to his countless servants on this blessed day.

Reward of Hajj-e-Mabrur (accepted by Allah SWT)

Hajj being the fifth pillar of Islam is the best among deeds. The intention to perform must this obligatory prayer has to be pure and not to show off, rather to please the creator of heavens and earth. Only then the sins are expiated, and Jannah is rewarded. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad PBUH said:

It produces many individual and collective benefits to Muslims. It teaches permissiveness, gentleness, and submissiveness on a personal level while generates the feeling of brotherhood, solidarity, and unity of social scale.
