What’s The First Thing Need To Teach Our kids-Islam, Iman, & Prayers
When Allah creates human beings, he gifts them Imaan at birth. Then it is up to the parents to mold the newborn. Children belonging to different faith start following their parents’ faith. When we teach our kids about Islam, we nurture and cultivate that faith already present in their hearts since birth.
Importance of teaching Islam to toddlers
There is no worldly matter or subject regarding which Islam does not share guidance. One cannot keep religion aside and spend life Islamically. Therefore, our foremost duty as parents is to teach our kids about Islam.
Teaching Islam to toddlers helps them develop a strong relationship with their Creator. Children are very inquisitive. They want to explore everywhere around. They want to know who made the flowers or from where the stars get their shine. By introducing the children to the Supreme Creator of the universe and everything within it, we can help them recognize the might and power of Allah. We must teach our kids that Allah is all-knowing. He balances everything around. This helps cultivate the ground for further concepts such as Tauheed. Since Allah is the Creator and the Sustainer, it is only He who is worthy of worship. By giving such important lessons since childhood, we not only teach them about religion, but we also nurture their self-esteem. The children would know that it is only Allah whom we must turn to when we need help. He is the only one who can bring us out of despair and calamities.
Children are fast learners. They adapt whatever they observe. By giving an Islamic environment, the kids will adopt the Righteous Path from an early stage. Developing the concept of right and wrong shall help instill moral values in children. We must teach our kids that Allah is watching us at all times. Therefore we must enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong.
One of the biggest treasures we can give to our children is the love for Allah. Since childhood, we must tell them that Allah loves us the most than anyone in the whole world. True believers know that difficulties are from Allah. The belief that Allah does not burden anyone more than he can bear lets a person sail through any difficulty.
How to train a child Islamically?
Now that it is clear how important it is to teach our kids about Islam, let us explore some interesting ways. After giving the concept of Tauheed, next comes Salah. At what age is Salah compulsory for a child? Islamqa shall be helpful to guide you about the matter. However, by the age of seven, children must learn how to offer prayer. Parents can encourage children to offer Salah by telling them it is a chance for Muslims to meet their Creator, thank Him, and plead to Him. A salah chart with rewards can also be very helpful.
Islamic activities for kids such as poems, quizzes, and creating an Islamic corner at home, are some ways to teach our kids about religion. You can engage children in decorating the area. Keep some religious storybooks, a tasbeeh, a prayer mat, and some candies as a reward for every good deed for the day. Make sure you daily spend at least half an hour in this area with your children. Tell them about important religious obligations and their rewards such as Umrah benefits, the importance of Zakat, and other religious duties. This is especially important for Muslim families living in the west where they have to mingle with people belonging to different faiths. When children interact with each other at school, they may face problems in clarifying Islam. When the children are knowledgeable, teaching Christian kids about Islam shall not be a problem.
How to make your child love Quran?
Quran is the ultimate guide for Muslims. We must teach our kids to read and love Quran. Telling interesting Quranic stories, such as Hazrat Yusuf (AS), Hazrat Musa (AS), Companions of the Cave, and many others will help you develop an interest in reading Quran for your children. By explaining the meaning, you can motivate them to read further.
Above everything else, we as parents must be role models if we are to teach our kids about Islam
